Society is a charitable non- profit society that is a service provider in the Northeast Region since 1998 throughout Whitecourt, Mayerthorpe and Fox Creek.   Our mandate is to support people with disabilities to attain their full potential. The society is governed by a volunteer board of directors and is funded primarily through the Department of Community Development, Government of Alberta with The Persons with Developmental Disabilities overseeing our budget. We are proud members of the Disability Services Northeast Alberta along with twelve other service providers. We provide an array of training and personal support services to enable individuals with special needs to become a valuable part of their community.

Our volunteer board of directors meets once a month on the 1st Tuesday of each month.  The board has an Annual General Meeting which occurs prior to the end of October.

Eligibility of Society Membership

ECHO Society welcomes community citizens, who share the same philosophy as our society, to become members.  Parents/family members who have shown their ongoing and consistent support and encouragement of the philosophy and practices of our society may apply for membership; however the board holds the deciding approval of all applications. As members of the society, you have voting privileges at our annual/general meetings.  Members are encouraged to actively participate in volunteer roles including being members of the different standing committees of the society.  Only members who are not employed by ECHO Society and who are not related to staff members are eligible to be elected to the Board of Directors.
